NEW YORK, N.Y. — A 30-year-old Staten Island man with a backpack full of stolen ice cream found himself stuck high on a ledge while fleeing police in Harlem yesterday, the NYPD said.

Police responded to a 911 call of a larceny at a CVS, located at 1500 Lexington Ave., Tuesday morning and started a foot pursuit of a man who fit the description of the suspect, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

The suspect, who police identified as Anthony Pastore, 30, of Stack Drive in Arden Heights, started running towards a courtyard at 183 East 98th Street, where he climbed over a fence that leads to a long drop to an alley below, police said.

Pastore then tried to climb down a wall to the alley but got stuck on a small ledge, according to police.

The NYPD Emergency Service Unit responded to the scene and police took him into custody, police said.

Pastore is facing criminal possession of stolen property and petit larceny charges. It was not immediately clear if Pastore retained a lawyer as of Tuesday night.
